Academics In DPS Vijayapura

Students are given strong foundation of social, emotional, physical and academic skills to become productive learners, effective communicators and responsible students. We lay stress on activity based integrated learning.

  1. Multisensory thematic, play way approach is followed to broaden the outlook of the child, enabling him/her to become a keen observer and ‘out of the box thinker’.
  2. Our enriched curriculum is designed to capitalize on each child’s latent talents and gives opportunity to explore and learn.
  3. Emphasis is also laid on developing language, visual and listening skills.
  4. Every child’s preferred learning style -Audio, Visual, and Kinesthetic is kept in mind while designing activities to cater to individual differences and provide optimal learning for all.
  5. Our Curriculum offers opportunities to students for hands-on exploration and discovery that foster confidence as well as help them to develop critical thinking skills.
  6. The Curriculum is based on objectives for development and learning.

The Syllabus sets out six areas of learning covering students’ physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. Each of these areas include several aspects of learning which aims at holistic development of each child.

Guiding students with clear rules for discipline and respect

Attendance and Punctuality
  • Students must attend school regularly and punctually.
  • Minimum 75% attendance is compulsory to appear for the final examination, as per CBSE norms.
  • Leave of absence must be supported by a written application from parents/guardians.
  • In case of illness extending beyond three days, a medical certificate should be submitted.
  • Students must reach school at least 10 minutes before the first bell.
  • Latecomers must report to the school office for permission to enter the class.
School Uniform
  • Students must wear the prescribed uniform neatly and with pride every day.
  • On Wednesdays and special occasions, students must wear the designated house or activity uniform.
  • Proper grooming is mandatory:
  • Hair must be neatly combed, boys should maintain short haircuts.
  • Girls with long hair must tie it neatly with black bands or ribbons.
  • Nails should be trimmed and clean.
  • Wearing of fancy jewellery, nail polish, tattoos, or makeup is strictly prohibited.
Conduct and Discipline
  • Students must show respect towards teachers, staff, and peers at all times.
  • Disobedience, abusive language, bullying, or any kind of misconduct will not be tolerated.
  • Students must maintain decorum in classrooms, corridors, and during assemblies.
  • Running, shouting, or playing inside classrooms or corridors is not permitted.
  • Students should use polite language and maintain discipline both inside and outside the campus.
  • Any damage to school property must be reported immediately and compensated for by the student.
Attendance in School Activities
  • Participation in school functions, celebrations, sports, and co-curricular activities is compulsory.
  • Students should represent the school with discipline and dignity during inter-school competitions.
Electronic Gadgets and Valuables
  • Mobile phones, smart watches, cameras, or any electronic gadgets are strictly not allowed in school.
  • The school is not responsible for the loss of any valuables brought by students.
Cleanliness and Environment
  • Students must maintain personal hygiene and help keep the school environment clean.
  • Littering on the campus is strictly prohibited
  • Students are encouraged to practice green habits – saving electricity, paper, and water.
Homework and Academic Work
  • Students must complete classwork and homework regularly.
  • Books and materials should be brought as per the timetable only
  • Malpractice in examinations or assignments will invite strict disciplinary action.
Communication with Parents
  • Parents should check the school diary daily for circulars, homework, and teacher remarks.
  • Any change in address or contact details must be informed immediately to the school office.
  • Parents are encouraged to attend PTMs (Parent–Teacher Meetings) regularly.
Safety and Security
  • Students must not leave the school premises without written permission from the Principal.
  • Visitors and parents must carry proper identification while entering the school campus.
  • Students should strictly follow transport rules and behave properly in the school bus.
Digital Behaviour
  • Students should use the internet responsibly for educational purposes only.
  • Cyber bullying, sharing inappropriate content, or posting disrespectful messages about school or peers will be treated as a serious offence.

Health and Safety
  • Inform the school in advance if your child is suffering from any chronic illness or allergy.
  • Do not send your child to school if he/she is unwell.
  • Teach your child to follow safety instructions in school buses, classrooms, and playgrounds.
Use of Transport
  • Parents must ensure that their child follows all transport safety rules while boarding or alighting from the bus.
  • Any complaint or suggestion regarding the transport facility should be addressed to the Transport In-charge through the school office.

Library Rules
  • Maintain silence in the library at all times.
  • Keep the library clean and tidy.
  • Students must carry their library card to borrow books.
  • Each student can borrow one book for 7 days.
  • Books must be handled with care and returned on time.
  • In case of loss or damage, the book must be replaced.
  • Reference books and magazines cannot be issued.
  • No food, drinks, or mobile phones are allowed in the library.
  • Follow the librarian’s instructions at all times.
  • Maintain discipline and respect the library environment.
Discipline Policy

Norms for Promotion of Students
  • The final result will consider:
  • Periodic Tests / Unit Tests
  • Mid-Term and Final Examinations
  • Notebook submission, projects, and class activities
  • Discipline, participation, and regularity
  • Students must have a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible for promotion, as per CBSE rules.
  • Any case of unfair means during examination will lead to disqualification and may affect promotion.
  • The decision of the Principal and Examination Committee regarding promotion shall be final and binding.
  • Promotion to the next class will be based on the overall performance of the student during the academic year.
  • Students must secure a minimum of 33% marks in each subject (both theory and practical, if applicable).
  • For Classes I–VIII, promotion will follow the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern as per CBSE guidelines.
  • For Classes IX and XI, promotion is based on annual examination results and consistent performance throughout the year.
  • Students failing to achieve the minimum marks may be given remedial support or re-examination at the school’s discretion.
  • Parents will be informed in advance if a student’s performance is below promotion level to ensure timely improvement.
Attendance Requirement
  • Students must have a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to appear for examinations as per CBSE norms.
  • Absence during exams will not be permitted except in case of illness, supported by a medical
    certificate.
Punctuality
  • Students must report to the examination hall at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time.
  • Latecomers will not be given extra time to complete the paper.
Materials Allowed
  • Students should carry only required stationery (pens, pencils, eraser, geometry tools, etc.) in a transparent pouch.
  • Admit cards and ID cards must be carried to every examination.
Prohibited Items
  • Mobile phones, smart watches, electronic gadgets, books, or notes are strictly not allowed in the examination room.
  • Possession of such items will be treated as unfair means.
Conduct During Examination
  • Students must maintain complete silence and discipline in the exam hall.
  • Talking, exchanging materials, or looking at another student’s paper will be treated as misconduct.
  • Any form of cheating or malpractice will lead to strict action and possible cancellation of the paper.
Answer Sheet Rules
  • Students must write their name, class, section, and roll number clearly on the answer sheet.
  • Rough work must be done in the space provided.
  • No extra pages will be given unless permitted by the invigilator.
Leaving the Exam Hall
  • Students will not be allowed to leave the hall before the completion time of the paper.
  • Answer sheets must be handed over to the invigilator before leaving.
Medical or Emergency Cases
  • In case of serious illness or emergency, parents must inform the school in writing with valid documents.
  • Retests will be conducted only at the discretion of the Principal.
Overall Behavior
  • Students must show honesty, fairness, and respect during examinations.
  • Any disturbance or misbehavior in the exam hall will invite strict action.
Transport Rules
  • School transport is a facility and must be used with discipline and care.
  • Students must reach their bus stop at least 5 minutes before the scheduled time.
  • The bus will not wait for latecomers.
  • Students must board and get off the bus only at their assigned stops.
  • Standing, shouting, or moving around inside the bus is strictly prohibited.
  • Hands, heads, or any object must not be put outside the bus windows.
  • Polite behaviour with the driver, conductor, and fellow students is expected at all times.
  • Any damage to the bus will have to be paid for by the student responsible.
  • Students must not throw anything inside or outside the bus.
  • Misbehaviour in the bus may lead to suspension of transport privileges.
  • In case of change of route or stop, parents must submit a written request to the school office.
  • Parents are requested to ensure that their child follows all bus safety rules.
Code of Conduct for Parents (Parent–Teacher Communication)
  • Parents should maintain polite and respectful communication with teachers and staff at all times.
  • Meetings with teachers should be arranged only by proper channels and during the scheduled school hours.
  • Prior appointment must be taken before meeting the Principal, teachers, or any staff member.
  • Parents should not enter classrooms during class hours without permission.
  • Avoid discussing school matters or teachers negatively in front of children.
