Academics In DPS Vijayapura
Students are given strong foundation of social, emotional, physical and academic skills to become productive learners, effective communicators and responsible students. We lay stress on activity based integrated learning.
- Multisensory thematic, play way approach is followed to broaden the outlook of the child, enabling him/her to become a keen observer and ‘out of the box thinker’.
- Our enriched curriculum is designed to capitalize on each child’s latent talents and gives opportunity to explore and learn.
- Emphasis is also laid on developing language, visual and listening skills.
- Every child’s preferred learning style -Audio, Visual, and Kinesthetic is kept in mind while designing activities to cater to individual differences and provide optimal learning for all.
- Our Curriculum offers opportunities to students for hands-on exploration and discovery that foster confidence as well as help them to develop critical thinking skills.
- The Curriculum is based on objectives for development and learning.
- These objectives are fully aligned with the formative years of child development and our learning framework.
- Our curriculum is designed to offer individualized instruction and meet the needs of every learner, with a particular focus on English language development.
The Syllabus sets out six areas of learning covering students’ physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. Each of these areas include several aspects of learning which aims at holistic development of each child.

Rules and regulations
Guiding students with clear rules for discipline and respect
Attendance and Punctuality
- Students must attend school regularly and punctually.
- Minimum 75% attendance is compulsory to appear for the final examination, as per CBSE norms.
- Leave of absence must be supported by a written application from parents/guardians.
- In case of illness extending beyond three days, a medical certificate should be submitted.
- Students must reach school at least 10 minutes before the first bell.
- Latecomers must report to the school office for permission to enter the class.
School Uniform
- Students must wear the prescribed uniform neatly and with pride every day.
- On Wednesdays and special occasions, students must wear the designated house or activity uniform.
- Proper grooming is mandatory:
- Hair must be neatly combed, boys should maintain short haircuts.
- Girls with long hair must tie it neatly with black bands or ribbons.
- Nails should be trimmed and clean.
- Wearing of fancy jewellery, nail polish, tattoos, or makeup is strictly prohibited.
Conduct and Discipline
- Students must show respect towards teachers, staff, and peers at all times.
- Disobedience, abusive language, bullying, or any kind of misconduct will not be tolerated.
- Students must maintain decorum in classrooms, corridors, and during assemblies.
- Running, shouting, or playing inside classrooms or corridors is not permitted.
- Students should use polite language and maintain discipline both inside and outside the campus.
- Any damage to school property must be reported immediately and compensated for by the student.
Attendance in School Activities
- Participation in school functions, celebrations, sports, and co-curricular activities is compulsory.
- Students should represent the school with discipline and dignity during inter-school competitions.
Electronic Gadgets and Valuables
- Mobile phones, smart watches, cameras, or any electronic gadgets are strictly not allowed in school.
- The school is not responsible for the loss of any valuables brought by students.
Cleanliness and Environment
- Students must maintain personal hygiene and help keep the school environment clean.
- Littering on the campus is strictly prohibited
- Students are encouraged to practice green habits – saving electricity, paper, and water.
Homework and Academic Work
- Students must complete classwork and homework regularly.
- Books and materials should be brought as per the timetable only
- Malpractice in examinations or assignments will invite strict disciplinary action.
Communication with Parents
- Parents should check the school diary daily for circulars, homework, and teacher remarks.
- Any change in address or contact details must be informed immediately to the school office.
- Parents are encouraged to attend PTMs (Parent–Teacher Meetings) regularly.
Safety and Security
- Students must not leave the school premises without written permission from the Principal.
- Visitors and parents must carry proper identification while entering the school campus.
- Students should strictly follow transport rules and behave properly in the school bus.
Digital Behaviour
- Students should use the internet responsibly for educational purposes only.
- Cyber bullying, sharing inappropriate content, or posting disrespectful messages about school or peers will be treated as a serious offence.
School Motto and Values
- Students must uphold the school’s motto and values of respect, honesty, discipline, and excellence.
- They should always conduct themselves as responsible members of the school and society.
Attendance and Punctuality
- Ensure that your child attends school regularly and punctually.
- A minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory for your child to be eligible for examinations, as per CBSE rules.
- Avoid taking your child out of school during working days for personal functions or trips.
- In case of illness, send a leave application along with a medical certificate (if the leave exceeds three days).
Discipline and Behaviour
- Encourage your child to maintain good conduct and discipline inside and outside the school campus.
- Do not allow your child to bring mobile phones, smart watches, or electronic gadgets to school.
- Guide your child to use polite and respectful language with teachers, staff, and peers.
- Teach your child to value school property and maintain cleanliness.
Uniform and Personal Hygiene
- Ensure that your child wears the prescribed school uniform neatly every day.
- Check that your child’s nails are trimmed, hair is neatly combed, and shoes are polished.
- Encourage your child to maintain personal cleanliness and hygiene.
Academic Support
- Regularly check your child’s school diary, homework, and class assignments.
- Create a quiet study environment at home and ensure that homework is completed on time.
- Do not encourage rote learning; instead, help your child understand concepts.
- Motivate your child to read newspapers, storybooks, and reference materials to enhance general knowledge.
Communication with School
- Parents are requested to attend all Parent–Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to discuss their child’s progress.
- Keep the school informed about any change in address, phone number, or emergency contact details.
- Any concerns regarding academics or behaviour should be discussed respectfully with the class teacher or principal through proper channels.
Health and Safety
- Inform the school in advance if your child is suffering from any chronic illness or allergy.
- Do not send your child to school if he/she is unwell.
- Teach your child to follow safety instructions in school buses, classrooms, and playgrounds.
Use of Transport
- Parents must ensure that their child follows all transport safety rules while boarding or alighting from the bus.
- Any complaint or suggestion regarding the transport facility should be addressed to the Transport In-charge through the school office.
Moral and Social Development
- Help your child develop values like honesty, kindness, empathy, and respect for others.
- Encourage your child to participate in school events, sports, and community service activities.
- Monitor your child’s use of social media and digital platforms to ensure responsible behaviour online.
Collaboration with the School
- Parents are partners in the educational process — your cooperation and feedback are valuable.
- Celebrate your child’s achievements and encourage effort, not just results.
- Avoid criticising the school or teachers in front of children. Instead, discuss concerns privately with the school authorities.
General Reminders
- Label your child’s belongings clearly to avoid loss.
- Students should not carry large sums of money or valuables to school.
- Ensure your child gets adequate sleep, a nutritious diet, and time for recreation
Library Rules
- Maintain silence in the library at all times.
- Keep the library clean and tidy.
- Students must carry their library card to borrow books.
- Each student can borrow one book for 7 days.
- Books must be handled with care and returned on time.
- In case of loss or damage, the book must be replaced.
- Reference books and magazines cannot be issued.
- No food, drinks, or mobile phones are allowed in the library.
- Follow the librarian’s instructions at all times.
- Maintain discipline and respect the library environment.
Discipline Policy
- Students must maintain discipline inside and outside the classroom.
- Show respect to teachers, staff, and fellow students.
- Punctuality and regular attendance are compulsory.
- Proper uniform and neat appearance are expected every day.
- Bullying, fighting, or use of bad language will not be tolerated.
- Students must take care of school property and keep the campus clean.
- Mobile phones, smart watches, or gadgets are not allowed in school.
- Polite behavior is expected in buses, corridors, and during activities.
- Any act of disobedience or misconduct will lead to disciplinary action.
- Every student should uphold the values of honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Norms for Promotion of Students
- The final result will consider:
- Periodic Tests / Unit Tests
- Mid-Term and Final Examinations
- Notebook submission, projects, and class activities
- Discipline, participation, and regularity
- Students must have a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible for promotion, as per CBSE rules.
- Any case of unfair means during examination will lead to disqualification and may affect promotion.
- The decision of the Principal and Examination Committee regarding promotion shall be final and binding.
- Promotion to the next class will be based on the overall performance of the student during the academic year.
- Students must secure a minimum of 33% marks in each subject (both theory and practical, if applicable).
- For Classes I–VIII, promotion will follow the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern as per CBSE guidelines.
- For Classes IX and XI, promotion is based on annual examination results and consistent performance throughout the year.
- Students failing to achieve the minimum marks may be given remedial support or re-examination at the school’s discretion.
- Parents will be informed in advance if a student’s performance is below promotion level to ensure timely improvement.
Attendance Requirement
- Students must have a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to appear for examinations as per CBSE norms.

Absence during exams will not be permitted except in case of illness, supported by a medical
certificate.
Punctuality
- Students must report to the examination hall at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time.
- Latecomers will not be given extra time to complete the paper.
Materials Allowed
- Students should carry only required stationery (pens, pencils, eraser, geometry tools, etc.) in a transparent pouch.
- Admit cards and ID cards must be carried to every examination.
Prohibited Items
- Mobile phones, smart watches, electronic gadgets, books, or notes are strictly not allowed in the examination room.
- Possession of such items will be treated as unfair means.
Conduct During Examination
- Students must maintain complete silence and discipline in the exam hall.
- Talking, exchanging materials, or looking at another student’s paper will be treated as misconduct.
- Any form of cheating or malpractice will lead to strict action and possible cancellation of the paper.
Answer Sheet Rules
- Students must write their name, class, section, and roll number clearly on the answer sheet.
- Rough work must be done in the space provided.
- No extra pages will be given unless permitted by the invigilator.
Leaving the Exam Hall
- Students will not be allowed to leave the hall before the completion time of the paper.
- Answer sheets must be handed over to the invigilator before leaving.
Medical or Emergency Cases
- In case of serious illness or emergency, parents must inform the school in writing with valid documents.
- Retests will be conducted only at the discretion of the Principal.
Overall Behavior
- Students must show honesty, fairness, and respect during examinations.
- Any disturbance or misbehavior in the exam hall will invite strict action.
Transport Rules
- School transport is a facility and must be used with discipline and care.
- Students must reach their bus stop at least 5 minutes before the scheduled time.
- The bus will not wait for latecomers.
- Students must board and get off the bus only at their assigned stops.
- Standing, shouting, or moving around inside the bus is strictly prohibited.
- Hands, heads, or any object must not be put outside the bus windows.
- Polite behaviour with the driver, conductor, and fellow students is expected at all times.
- Any damage to the bus will have to be paid for by the student responsible.
- Students must not throw anything inside or outside the bus.
- Misbehaviour in the bus may lead to suspension of transport privileges.
- In case of change of route or stop, parents must submit a written request to the school office.
- Parents are requested to ensure that their child follows all bus safety rules.
Code of Conduct for Parents (Parent–Teacher Communication)
- Parents should maintain polite and respectful communication with teachers and staff at all times.
- Meetings with teachers should be arranged only by proper channels and during the scheduled school hours.
- Prior appointment must be taken before meeting the Principal, teachers, or any staff member.
- Parents should not enter classrooms during class hours without permission.
- Avoid discussing school matters or teachers negatively in front of children.
- Any concern or grievance should be shared calmly and respectfully through the school office or during Parent–Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
- Personal contact numbers of teachers should not be used for informal or after-hours communication.
- All communication should reflect trust, cooperation, and partnership between home and school.
- Support teachers by ensuring your child completes assignments, maintains discipline, and attends school regularly.
- Parents are encouraged to check the school diary regularly for homework, circulars, and teacher remarks.
